The establishment of one of the major Italian companies specialised in transportation, warehousing and handling of commodities is closely related to the history of the Pacorini family. The company was founded in Trieste in 1933 by Bruno Pacorini, in order to meet the needs of 'colonial' goods' traders, dealing with coffee, spices, dried and citrus fruits. By the mid 60s the company developed a specialisation in the green coffee sector and began to diversify its activities by implementing a programme of investments, both in Italy and abroad.
At the beginning of the 70s Pacorini carried out the first system for palletising in-transit coffee in Trieste, that enabled the Company to widen the range of services offered to the coffee industry and to expand its involvement in handling other commodities, notably cellulose, metals and rubber.
By developing and establishing Silocaf (advanced industrial plant for processing of green coffee), Pacorini became the first logistic operator in Italy and around the world. In 1992 it exported its know-how in the USA and in Brazil, through own subsidiaries.
Concurrently Pacorini achieved a market leader position in the Mediterranean by providing logistic services to the non-ferrous metals market as well, and it broadened its presence in Northern Europe, Northern America and Asia.
The steady progression from a family business to international group has now reached a stage where Pacorini is recognised as a reference point for operators and customers in the sectors of shipping, warehousing, distribution of commodities, as well as the management of port terminals, processing of soft commodities and specialised transportation.
The Pacorini Group is accredited by numerous international authorities, such as London Metal Exchange (L.M.E.) and London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) and Minor Metals Trade Association (MMTA). Recently Pacorini entered the sector of distriparks, with some warehouses dedicated to warehousing, picking and distribution of perishable and industrial goods.
Pacorini is today a well-recognised international company: as a matter of fact 61 per cent of its total turnover is conducted abroad. And the company is still growing, moving to the future ideas, products and business of its customers, in Italy and around the world.
